Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 First REVIEW: THIS Gaming Laptop Isn’t Just for Gamers!

A couple of days ago, Xiaomi announced the release of its new Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019. The presentation took place in China at ChinaJoy 2019 technology exhibition. This is the second generation of laptop for gamers from the Chinese manufacturer. The previous laptop was introduced last spring, and it received many positive reviews.

In this article, we will make the first review of Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019. To be precise, the laptop will be released in three versions with different specifications and prices. How is the new laptop different from the previous generation? Let’s find out.

Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019: Design

As for appearance, Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 doesn’t differ from the first generation. The design is the same minimalistic, but still stylish and attractive. Like all laptops, the case has a rectangular shape with rounded edges. The laptop is available only in matte black color.

As you know, most gaming laptops have different logos, stickers, backlights or other visual effects. Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 has nothing like that.

However, one detail of any gaming laptop is still present in Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 – keyboard backlit. It has three modes.

The body of new laptop is made of stainless steel. The thickness is 20.9 mm. Do not be surprised of the thickness, because all gaming laptops are quite thick and heavy.

The dimensions, by the way, are also impressive – 364 × 265 × 20.9 mm, and weight – 2.6 kilograms. Of course, it is difficult to call it a portable device, but do not forget that this is a gaming laptop.

As we already said, Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 does not have logos or pictures on the lid. This is a smooth matte finish. A laptop can be identified only by small Xiaomi logo, which is located under the screen.

The ports and connectors are located on the side and rear panels. On the right side is USB 3.0 port and SD card reader. On the left panel there are two USB 3.0 ports, headphone and microphone jacks.

USB-A, HDMI, Ethernet, USB-C connector and a charging port are located on the back of the laptop. Unlike Apple laptops, you can connect any additional gadgets to your laptop and make the gaming experience even more fun.

By the way, on all three faces there are openings for cooling the laptop during heavy gameplay.

Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 stands on three rubberized legs. They are quite tenacious, which is good for a laptop with a lot of weight. Half of the bottom panel is a grid with two fans for cooling the laptop.

When starting heavy games or apps, Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 is better not to put on the knees or sofa, because the fans absorb dust inside, which negatively affects the performance. This laptop is designed for the workplace.

Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019: Display

All three Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 laptop models have the same display. This is 15.6-inch panel with Full HD resolution. The screen-to-body ratio is 81%, while the color gamut is 72%.

We think gamers will be pleased by 144 Hz refresh rate. The colors are contrasting and clear, the viewing angles are excellent.

The bezels around the display are noticeable, especially the bottom. The webcam is located above the screen.

Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019: Performance

Now let’s find out the main differences between the three models of Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 gaming laptop. The Chinese company released a laptop in three versions with different hardware:

• The younger version is powered by 9th generation Intel Core i5-9300H processor. The core frequency is 2.4 GHz, but it is increased to 4.1 GHz in Turbo Boost mode. The graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. Also, this version comes with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal memory.
• The older version has 9th generation Intel Core i7-9750H processor with a core frequency of 2.6 GHz and 4.5 GHz in Turbo Boost mode. The GPU is the same as the younger version – NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. RAM is much larger – 16GB, while the built-in memory is the same – 512GB.
• The top version of the new Xiaomi gaming laptop is powered by the same processor as the older version – Intel Core i7-9750H with a core frequency of 2.6 GHz. However, the graphics processor is better – NVIDIA GeForce RTXTM 2060. As for memory, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory are available.

We are always happy when there is a choice, and we can choose a gaming laptop depending on budget and necessary specifications.

In all other aspects, the versions of Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 gaming laptop are identical. All of them support dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0. The laptop runs on Windows 10 Home.

At the bottom of the laptop are dual Dolby Audio speakers of 3 watts.

As for the camera, it is standard for any other laptop – 1MP. This is enough for video calls on Skype or other social media.

A few words about  battery. Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 is equipped with 55 W battery. If you watch movies or just surf the Internet, the single charge is enough for about 4.5 hours. Of course, during the game the battery runs out much faster.

It takes about 2 hours to fully charge the new Xiaomi laptop.

Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019: Price

As we already said, the price of Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 depends on the version of the laptop, namely the processor and the amount of memory.

• The youngest model of Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 will cost $1800.
• The older model will cost $1239.
• The price of the top model is $1278.
