Review Oppo Mix: First Phone with 5X Optical Zoom – Price, release date, specs

Most of well-known and even not very popular manufacturers already released their own bezel-less smartphones. Another feature of phones in 2017 is optical two-time zoom, which allows to get a great result without losing quality.

Popular Chinese company OPPO already advanced smartphone Oppo R11 with Snapdragon 660 and dual camera with optical zoom, but there are bezels around the screen, and it is not inexcusably for 2017. So, OPPO preparing another smartphone with full screen and dual main camera with 5x optical zoom.

It is mot joke or information, because as early as February 2017 at the MWC event OPPO showed a prototype of mobile device with a similar camera. It is reported that Oppo MIX smartphone with 5X optical zoom will be released in November. So, we are waiting for new revolution!

Oppo MIX Review

New smartphone appeared in popular benchmark GFXBench with code-named MIX. In fact, OPPO Mix is only code-name, and perhaps the official name will be another. Nevertheless, it sounds quite good, and in this article we will call new smartphone this name.

Design

If we talk about design, there is only one leaked photo. It is very blurry, but we can see that new smartphone doesn’t have bezels on sides, but there are panels from above and below.

At the top of Oppo MIX are sensors, light indicator, front camera and speaker. At the bottom is nothing. So, Oppo MIX looks similar to Samsung S8 and S8 Plus with the same rounded display angles.

We don’t know what will be on back panel, but here should be fingerprint scanner, dual camera, flash and company logo.

Performance

Also, we don’t have much information about hardware OPPO Mix. We hope it will be powered by Snapdragon 835 and not be less than 6GB RAM. The internal memory will be 128 GB. The rest details about the smartphone will become known a little later.

Of course, the rear camera is main feature of OPPO MIX. It has 5X optical zoom that is hard to imagine and it seems that this is a silly marketing move. But we already saw prototype on MWC 2017 and it really works. The magic is in Oppo Mix lens – telephoto camera lenses are located in a special way, namely at 90-degree angle. In the scientific field this is called a periscope design, which allows for a staggering result, while not making the smartphone thicker, with such a complex design in a compact package.

The maximum thickness of the periscope is 5.7 mm. The manufacturer didn’t say detailed specifications of cameras, but something we already know. Here’s a visual comparison of 5X optical and electronic zoom. Is the future behind such camera? – Yes!

Now only one thing is known: OPPO Mix will not appear until November 2017. The Chinese company keeps in secret its new revolutionary smartphone.
