Review Deus Ex: The Fall – cyberpunk for the poor
Deus Ex: The Fall, once exclusive to the iOS platform and Android, adheres style Human Revolution .However edition for PC, despite the convenient operation, is unlikely to attract even the most loyal fans of the series. All the fault is not so much “thinner” the scale and rapidity of the game, how dreadful graphics and annoying bugs.
If for smartphones and tablets look of the game was acceptable, on the PC it does not stand up to scrutiny. No high resolution, no anti-aliasing does not save us from having to look at a flat texture, disgusting effects, animation and antsy carved ax character models. Facial animation is subtle, making dialogues in puppetry. Separation locations on the tiny levels adds pleasant experiences, although practically immediate download.
From complete failure separates just a nice game art design, many elements of which are borrowed from the Human Revolution. Beautiful interiors elements of luxury hotels, nightclubs, brothels and gang clandestine clinics allow escape from the horrors of technical performance.
Ben Saxon mercenary betray his teammates, then he goes to the free bread, but free life turns new challenges. Hero, like many other owners of cybernetic implants, for the complete range of special preparations are necessary. And then, as luck would have it, the supplier says it can no longer provide Ben and his partner medication. The protagonist has to go in search of himself.
Ben faces a secret supply of illicit drugs, make new acquaintances and dealt with conspiracies corporations. It’s a shame, but not the worst, albeit with cliche characters, the story breaks off in mid-sentence. Even given at the beginning of the narrative antagonists were not disclosed and do not take meaningful participation in subsequent events. Therefore, the plot resembles a small and disappointing episode of the series.
Giving valuable free agents Ben nobody is going. Someone problems with gangsters, someone does not want to put at risk the powerful, some just do not trust the mercenary. The hero has to prove their worth, wade in the protected objects and extract important information.
Similarly, “elder” brother The Fall offers many options for playing a mission. Ben breaks down certain walls, moves heavy boxes and hacking terminals to open doors, turn off the surveillance cameras or make robots of their allies. Locations covered with ventilation shafts, which avoid direct confrontation. Also, the hero is forced to quietly deal with enemies. But here, however, the bodies evaporate after a moment.
Not all courses are available initially, and opportunities hero directly dependent on acquired skills.Ben is getting stronger, improving in the hacking case and the ability to remain undetected or acquires armor, without fear to deal with the enemies in open combat. Purchase equipment upgrades for “trunks”, cartridges and kits done at any time from the corresponding menu – would be money.
The Fall is perceived as simplistic addition to Human Revolution. Levels of small and routes are easily guessed. Convenient control lets kill idol easily. But it retains the atmosphere of the game Deus Ex.Search for alternative ways and opportunity to quietly slip past enemies do not lose their former interest.
Irritating all this absurdity in behavior enemies. They sometimes attack the hero for no apparent reason or notice him inexplicably. In other situations Ben buries a running back in the patrol, and he did not react to it.
Diagnosis
This game is not worth transferring to PC: here – this is a pale shadow, and in the realm of tablet-state – an outstanding game. Still, develop character, and select various passage jobs roam the city in search of additional missions – not the most boring. But the appearance of the game have long accustomed to tolerate restrictions and strange behavior of opponents. The plot is disappointing. So that it is easier to not pay attention to this misunderstanding.
Pro:
- Seek alternative paths and develop the protagonist is still wondering
Contra:
- Nightmarish schedule
- The plot is cut off in mid-sentence
- Too light campaign
- Enemies sometimes behave inappropriately
