PowerEgg X First REVIEW: Waterproof Drone and Handheld Camera
On January 7-10, 2020, one of the most ambitious exhibitions of technology and electronics was held – CES 2020. For 4 days, many interesting and innovative devices were presented. Today I want to tell you about one of these devices. Believe me, you will be surprised.
PowerVision Robot introduced its new product called PowerEgg X. This device can be used as a drone, as well as a stand-alone camera and a hand-held camera with a 3-axis stabilizer.
PowerEgg X shoots video in 4K resolution, takes off in the air, lands on water, and also has IPX6 protection against water, which allows it to fly even in the rain. And this is not even all the features of the new drone.
PowerVision Robot has been developing smart drones with AI for a long time. According to the manufacturer, the development of PowerEgg X took about 3 years.
Let’s do the first review of the new PowerEgg X quadcopter. I will try to explain to you why this is the most interesting and impressive drone of 2020.

PowerEgg X is 3-in-1 Drone
PowerEgg X looks like a gadget from the future. It is very futuristic and stylish. When folded, the body has the shape of an egg. The drone is made of matte white plastic.
It is a compact drone that fits in a small handbag, backpack, or just in one hand. Its dimensions are 165 × 100 × 100 mm. The weight is only 522 grams.
The lower part of the body is removed, and under it is a camera sensor on the gimbal. The company logos are located on the right and left sides, as well as mounts for installing wings and propellers.
You will also find a mount for the rubber strap on the right side, and a tripod mount on the left.
The back of the case is occupied by a motor and a quadcopter battery.
On the top panel we can see a round button for power the drone on and off, and four LED indicators. They say about battery level.
PowerEgg X is Available in Two Package Contents
PowerEgg X is available in package contents – Explorer and Wizard. Depending on the package content, the price changes. We will talk about price a little later.
The Explorer package has a drone, a battery, a remote control, 2 propellers, 2 handles for installing propellers, a storage bag and a strap.
As I said, on the left side of the case is a special mount for the rubber strap. Using it is much more convenient to carry the drone in your hand, as shown on the image above.
The Wizard package has more accessories, so the user has more features and options for using PowerEgg X.
In Wizard package content you get a drone, two batteries, a remote control, a waterproof case, two panels for take-off and landing on the water, 6 propellers, 2 handles for installing propellers, a bag for storing propellers, a bag for the drone and a strap.
Camera Shoots in 4K Ultra HD Resolution
The drone is equipped with a 1/2.8 inch CMOS sensor, which takes photos in a resolution of 12 megapixels. The viewing angle is 78.4°. The maximum resolution of the photo is 4000 × 3000 pixels.
You can not only shoot videos on PowerEgg X drone, but also take stunning photos from almost any angle and height.
As for video, the drone allows you to shoot in 4K Ultra HD resolution at 60 frames per second. The maximum video transmission speed is 75 Mbps.
Thanks to the 3-axis gimbal, the drone provides excellent stabilization.
Another useful feature is IPX6 water protection. This drone can fly in any weather, such as fog or rain.
3 Ways To Use PowerEgg X
As I wrote earlier, PowerEgg X can be used in three ways: flying drone, handheld camera and stand-alone camera. Let’s talk about each of these methods.
Drone
If you want to use the drone, then the single battery charge is enough for 30 minutes of flight. If you have Wizard package contents, then you can use a second battery to increase the flight time to 1 hour.
The maximum flight altitude is 4000 m. The drone is capable of speeds up to 18 meters per second. Operating temperature ranges from 0 to 40 ° C. However, the wind speed should not exceed 15-20 meters per second.
During a flight, PowerEgg X detects obstacles up to 20 meters away and bypasses them automatically. The drone supports the functions of following the object and flying around the object.
Thanks to additional accessories, the drone can be landed and lifted into the air from the water. To do this, you must use a special waterproof cover on the drone and a landing pad on water.
By the way, a waterproof case is attached to the main body. It is very lightweight, so it does not interfere with the controls and maneuvers of PowerEgg X.
On the remote control you can see the video in real time at a distance of up to 6 km.
Standalone camera
You can mount PowerEgg X on a tripod and shoot video without holding it in your hands. You can control the camera using a smartphone or special gestures.
To take a photo on PowerEgg X, you just need to raise your hand and fold your fingers in the “OK” gesture.
The camera also has the function of recognizing faces and holding the object in the center of the frame, even if the object is actively moving.
You can shoot the video on standalone camera for 4 hours on a single charge.
Handheld Camera
Handheld camera mode allows you to shoot beautiful first-person videos. For shooting in this mode, a 3-axis gimbal is used, thanks to which the videos are smooth.
The battery life when using the hendheld camera is 3.5 hours.
One of the most interesting features of the new PowerEggX is the SyncVoice function. You can synchronize your smartphone or wireless headphones with PowerEgg X drone, and then comment on the shooting in real time.
The sound from the microphone in the headphones or smartphone is automatically synchronized with the picture from the drone’s camera. I think this is a very useful feature for those who blog video or record video tutorials.
What’s The Price and Where To Buy PowerEgg X?
PowerEgg X is now available for pre-order. As I wrote above, the new drone is available in two package contents. The Explorer package costs $999, and Wizard costs $1399.
In my opinion, this is a very attractive price for a drone with awesome features. You can use this device as a quadcopter, standalone camera or handheld camera.
PowerEgg X is equipped with IPX6 water protection, 4K video shooting, take-offs and landings on water, and a flight time of up to 30 minutes, but shooting video up to 4 hours.
