MIUI 12: Everything You Need To Know About New UI 2020
New version of MIUI 12 is officially released! Yesterday Chinese company Xiaomi officially introduced new version of its user interface for Android smartphones called MIUI 12. Now we know about all new features and functions of the new UI.
MIUI 12 received updated non-linear animation system. The new version of MIUI has much smoother animation, and it looks like iOS on Apple devices.
Of course, Xiaomi reported about the release date of MIUI 12, and which smartphones will get the new user interface in the first place. As usual, the Chinese versions of smartphones will receive MIUI 12 first, and then the rest of the world.
Okay, let’s talk about changes, updates and new features in MIUI 12. You will also find the full list of smartphones that will receive an update to the new version of MIUI 12 at the end of the article.
New Dynamic Animations and More Intuitive Interface
In the new version of its user interface, Xiaomi decided to focus on design and usability rather than just adding new features. By the way, not only the user interface has received a new look, but also some built-in applications.
As I said, one of the main updates in MIUI 12 is a completely new animation. So Xiaomi says goodbye to line animation and now the new version of MIUI 12 is much like iOS.
The opening of applications and the transitions between them are smoother. 3D animation is more pleasing to the eye, but it makes you wait a few seconds. If you don’t want the smooth animation, I think you can turn it off in the settings, thus making your smartphone faster.
What’s more, new animations are available not only when you open or close an app, but also in almost all menus, settings, and functions.
As you can see from the video, even deleting apps now looks completely new, thanks to fireworks animation.
The same goes for unlocking the screen. Besides more animations in Always On Display mode, which we will talk about later, MIUI 12 got a completely new unlock screen.
In the video, you can see that you can set a stunning animated unlock wallpaper on the unlock screen.
Better Multitasking and More Settings
Another update of MIUI 12 is the improved multitasking system. You can now create a small window for almost any application such as videos, maps or even a game.
Xiaomi has sought to make MIUI 12 a more intuitive system by providing more settings in the camera application, home screen shortcuts and more.
Talking about camera app, you can now customize the interface to suit your needs, such as selecting icons at the bottom of the screen. If you don’t need a shooting mode, you can simply remove it. The minimum number of modes on the home screen of the camera app is 2, and the maximum is 10.
MIUI 12 is the first Android user interface to be certified by TÜV Rheinland. This certificate guarantees high safety and quality standards.
Dark Mode 2.0
Another important update in MIUI 12 is the new dark mode or Dark Mode 2.0. In contrast to the dark mode in MIUI 11, the new Dark Mode 2.0 adapts more colors for a more natural shading of each tint.
MIUI 12 also uses Anti-Color Lab technology – a set of algorithms that can fully automatically change the contrast or brightness of the displayed elements as well as font size.
The new Dark Mode 2.0 mode allows you to read comfortably in daylight and avoid glare in low light conditions. During the day the thickness and brightness of letters increases, while in the dark the font size decreases and the brightness decreases.
Dark Mode 2.0 in the new version of MIUI 12 can adapt the interface of any application. We are talking about Global Dark Mode.
MIUI 12 user interface is able to automatically and intelligently adapt the interface of third-party applications. As you understand, this is really important because people used to feel uncomfortable when using Dark Mode on their smartphones, but the applications were not adapted to it.
Over 1000 New Wallpapers on Always On Display and Animations
Another update of MIUI 12 is the integration of over 1000 new backgrounds, wallpapers and animations for Always On Display. Now all Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones with AMOLED display can use wallpapers and animations for Always On Display.
MIUI 12 also allows you to customize the appearance of Always On Display, select icons, applications and more.
More Security and Privacy Protection
With the release of the new MIUI 12 version, Xiaomi announced MACE (Mobile AI Compute Engine). It is a set of security measures aimed at users’ privacy.
In particular, MIUI 12 collects less personal data from smartphones and also does not store it on remote servers.
MIUI 12 allows the user to control which personal data Xiaomi collects from mobile devices or services.
In addition, the new user interface will notify you if any data is transferred without your permission. The icon will appear at the top of the screen showing the status of your microphone, camera or location.
Other New Features in MIUI 12
In addition to the above, MIUI 12 has received more improvements not only in the user interface itself, but also in built-in applications. For example, Xiaomi has improved its sleep tracking system and Notes applications.
It also introduced a system designed with artificial intelligence to recognize and receive calls. The smartphone can automatically answer calls using pre-installed and configured actions.
