Huawei MateBook E 2019 First REVIEW: Snapdragon 850 Transformer Tablet

You know that Huawei presented the new flagship smartphones called Huawei P30 and P30 Pro on April 11. Also, the Chinese manufacturer showed a new transformer laptop – Huawei MateBook E 2019. This is hybrid device, and you can use it as tablet and laptop. Windows 10 is used as operating system for new Huawei laptop.

However, the most interesting feature in new Huawei Matebook E 2019 is hardware. It is the first laptop or tablet on Snapdragon 850 processor.

No, this is not mobile processor, and it has nothing common with flagship mobile processor Snapdragon 855. These chipsets have different generation cores and different technical processes. Snapdragon 850 is a slightly upgraded version of Snapdragon 845.  Nevertheless, it is quite a powerful and modern processor for tablet.

New laptop/tablet from Huawei pleased with appearance. The manufacturer created really beautiful gadget. Huawei MateBook E has a fairly thin bezels around the display. However, they are not zero. Perhaps, this is even good, because they allow to comfortable hold the tablet in hands.

The fingerprint reader is located on the side face. The tablet comes with removable keyboard with a stand and key travel of 1.3 mm.

The laptop/tablet dimensions are 278.2 x 194.22 x 8.5 mm and a weight of 1.17 kg with keyboard, and 698 grams without it.

The screen of MateBook E 2019 has a diagonal of 12-inches, a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels with an aspect ratio of 3:2.

The viewing angles of the panel are almost maximum – 160 degrees. Among other features of display are oleophobic coating and TUV Rheinland certification. There is support for M Pen Lite stylus, but you need to buy it additionally.

We already said that hardware is the most interesting part of new tablet. As you know, most Huawei tablets are powered by Kirin 980 chipset, but this time the Chinese manufacturer decided to use new flagship processor from Qualcomm – Snapdragon 850.

As we have already said, the chipset has nothing in common with Snapdragon 855. It repeats the specifications of last year’s Snapdragon 845 with minor improvements. The processor consists of 8 Kryo 385 cores with a frequency of up to 2.96 GHz. The process technology has not changed – 10 nanometers.

The tablet received 8 GB of RAM, while internal memory are available in two options: 256 to 512 GB.

The other features of Huawei MateBook E 2019 are SmartPA dual amplifier, USB Type-C port, DisplayPort and 3.5mm headphone and microphone jack. The tablet also supports Dolby Atmos for surround sound.

The laptop runs on Windows 10 operating system with Huawei Share 3.0 One Touch feature, which makes it easy to share files with your smartphone. You just need to touch the smartphone to the keyboard, and files will be transferred.

You should also know about Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi and 4G LTE with Snapdragon X20 modem.

The tablet received a camera on the back and front panels. The rear camera uses 13 MP sensor, while 5 MP sensor is used on the front panel for video calls and selfies.

New tablet from Huawei in 2019 has a battery with capacity of 36.3Wh. It provides up to 10 hours of battery life in multimedia playback with screen brightness of 50%.

There is fast charging technology support in tablet. It allows charging 88% of battery in 1.5 hours.

Huawei MateBook E 2019: Release date and Price

The transformer tablet from Huawei will go on sale on April 30. It will be sold in two color options: black and blue.

The version with 256GB of storage will cost $595, while the model with 512GB of internal memory – $744.
