Haylou GT1 XR First REVIEW: Are These Earbuds Better Than GT1?
Do you remember I wrote about Haylou GT1, GT1 Plus and GT1 Pro wireless earbuds? This earbuds series is one of the most popular because they are very cheap, but offer good specifications.
Recently, Haylou GT1 series has been extended with another model – Haylou GT1 XR. By the way, even though the second generation GT2 earbuds have already been released – Haylou GT2, the Chinese manufacturer still produces new versions of the first generation.
In this article, I want to compare the new Haylou GT1 XR wireless earbuds with the original GT1 model. The difference in price is only $6. As you can see, the new earbuds are more expensive. Are Haylou GT1 XR really better than GT1? Let’s find out.

Design Has Not Changed
As you can see, the design of the new Haylou GT1 XR earbuds is no different from the previous GT1 version. Moreover, all GT1 series earbuds look the same.
They all have the same oval-shaped charging case. On the front, there are 4 LEDs that indicate the battery level of the charging case.
When you open the case, you will see two earbuds that are signed R and L – right and left.
Unfortunately, I did not find any information about the port in the charging case. It’s most likely a microUSB port, because the earbuds are budget.
The wireless earbuds themselves also have a round shape. They’re very light – just 3.9 grams each, and compact. They are comfortable to use for a long time.
New Qualcomm Processor
The main changes in Haylou GT1 XR are inside the earbuds, in particular the new processor. The new TWS earbuds are equipped with Qualcomm QC3020 processor that supports aptX and AAC.
The earbuds have quite large drivers – 7.2mm. It means a good sound quality.
The next feature of Haylou GT1 XR is the master-slave mode. In simple words, the right and left earbuds are separately connected to the smartphone. This mode allows you to use only the right or only the left earbud.
Let me remind you that in the previous version of Haylou GT1, the left earbud was connected to the right one and then the right one was connected to the smartphone. You could not use the left earbud without the right one.
This is a really important update to Haylou GT1 XR.
Battery Has Increased Significantly
The battery life of the new wireless earbuds has increased significantly. Haylou GT1 XR charging case has a battery capacity of 800mAh. According to the manufacturer, this is enough for 36 hours of battery life.
You can use the earbuds for 5 hours on one charge, and another 29 hours using charging case.
By comparison, Haylou GT1 worked only 3.5 hours on one charge, and 12 hours with the charging case.
Other Features
Also, the manufacturer claims about low sound delay in games. However, the earbuds have no special game mode.
Haylou GT1 XR connect to your smartphone or other devices via Bluetooth 5.0. Control options include play and pause music, switch tracks, receive or reject calls, and call a voice assistant on smartphone. The earbuds don’t have volume control.
Haylou GT1 XR or Haylou GT1?
Of course, Haylou GT1 XR are better than Haylou GT1. Firstly, the new earbuds have a new Qualcomm QC3020 processor and aptX support.
Secondly, the battery life has increased 3 times – from 12 hours to 36 hours.
The third, but no less important update is the master-slave mode, which allows you to use the right and left earbuds separately.

The new Haylou GT1 XR wireless TWS earbuds are already on sale at Aliexpress. The price is $23. This is a very attractive price for earbuds with good sound and long battery life.
