Google bought a startup Digisfera, specializing in panoramic images

Google has announced the acquisition of a Portuguese startup Digisfera, specializes in working with panoramic imagery. And the company believes that this acquisition will help to further develop the service Street View.

Founded in 2011, the startup Digisfera positions itself as a company specializing in “photos, design and development services projects related to the 360-degree photographs.” And the most famous achievements startup steel panoramic images during the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 and the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, as well as the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

In addition to these projects Digisfera engaged in the development of projects and PanoTag Marizano, the first of which allows developers to use the tag functionality in their applications, and the second processing panoramic images and export them as a 360-degree images available for viewing in a browser.

However, after the acquisition by Google Digisfera start to focus exclusively on the service Street View. PanoTag service will cease to exist on October 31, and in the coming weeks, Google will open source codes Marzipano, hoping that it will benefit the market.
