Excelvan BL – 59 REVIEW In-Depth: Affordable 3200 Lumens Projector of 2018!

Today you do not need to go to the cinema to watch movies on the big screen. For the last years, the projectors become affordable, and you can make your own cinema for about $200. Also, you can use projector to watch TV, online streaming services, such as Netflix and YouTube, and even play games. Yes, you can connect gaming console, such as PlayStation 4 or Xbox 4, and play games on a big screen. It sounds very interesting, doesn’t it?

In this article, we want to talk about Excelvan BL – 59 projector. It has native resolution of 1280×768 pixels, but it supports Full HD video playback. The brightness is 3200 Lumens, while contrast ratio is 3000:1. If you are not interested in details, then you should definitely know that Excelvan BL – 59 runs on Android 6.0 operating system. It means that you can install any Android apps on projector. There is already pre-installed Google Play Store, YouTube, browser, media player and other apps.

So, let’s start with unboxing, then review design, specifications, user interface, etc.

Unboxing

Excelvan BL – 59 comes in a cardboard box. There is an image of projector and “Multimedia Theater Video Projector” on the front side. In addition, you can see inscription “Projector” on one side.

The projector is well packed inside the box. It is protected by soft foam rubber, so the device will not be damaged during transportation.

The full package content you can see on the image above. There is projector, remote control, user manual and warranty card, power cable, AV cable, lens cloth, 2 x fuses, 4 x screws for ceiling mount and screw for height adjustment.

Design

Now, let’s look at design of Excelvan BL – 59 projector. We received the projector of white color, but also there is black color option.

First, I want to note the size of this device. As you know, good projector cannot be compact, because it needs good cooling system, different connections, etc. The dimensions of Excelvan BL – 59 are 32x24x14 cm. The weight is 2.5 kg.

The projector is made of cheap glossy plastic. It leaves fingerprints and dust, so you will need to wipe it with a cloth.

On the front side, you can see company logo and lens, which is protected by special rubber plug to avoid damage or dust on the lens.

Interface

All connectors and ports are located on the back panel. There is power connector on the left, and different ports on the right, such as two USB ports, two HDMI ports, VGA, TV, AV, Y.PB.Pr. So, you can connect anything you want to projector, for example, computer, laptop, smartphone, game consoles, TV, speaker, etc.

On the left and right sides of projector, there is heat dissipation system.

On the top, we can see two rings to change keystone correction and focus. Also, there are control buttons: signal source, menu, direction keys, OK, power and IR receiver. By the way, Excelvan BL – 59 is equipped with two infrared receivers on top and front panels. It provides better and faster signal receiving from remote control.

On the bottom, there are four rubber feet and holes to adjust the height or hang the projector on the ceiling.

Excelvan BL – 59 has very simple design, and it is made of cheap glossy plastic, however, it has everything you need for a comfortable use: various connectors, control panel, ring for focus and keystone correction and good cooling system.

Remote Control

The projector has remote control. It is also made of plastic of black color. The remote control is powered by two AA battery. It has many useful buttons, such as signal source, menu, direction keys, audio, flip, freeze, zoom, etc. In short, it is much more useful than Xiaomi remote controls. As we already said, projector has two IR receivers, so remote control works very well.

First, we should say about projection technology. It is LCD projector with LED lamp life up to 20000 hours. The next important specs for any projector are native resolution and brightness. Excelvan BL – 59 has 1280×768 pixels native resolution, but it supports Full HD video playback. The brightness is 3200 lumens, which is very good for budget projector.

Excelvan BL – 59 displays about 16.7K colors, while the screen size is from 30 to 200 inches. The projector has the ring for keystone correction. Its maximum angle is ±15°.

We already talked about connectors and ports on the rear panel, but what about wireless connections. The projector supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. Excelvan BL – 59 has built-in speaker, but also you can connect external speaker via Bluetooth. However, I like the sound quality of built-in speaker.

Operating system

Excelvan BL – 59 runs on Android 6.0 operating system. It has its own user interface, but we don’t know how it’s called. There are quick access tabs, such as Online video, Recommend, Music, My apps, Local and Settings. In addition, you can choose favorite apps for quick access, so they will be located on the bottom of the main screen.

Among pre-installed apps, you can find Google Play Store, YouTube, MoviePlayer, Miracast, FileBrowser, AppInstaller and some others. We already installed HDVideoBox for watching movies and series, and MX player.

After reviewing Excelvan BL – 59, we can say that it is very good budget projector for home. It is not portable, because the dimensions are quite large. Also, the projector doesn’t have built-in battery. Perhaps, this is the main drawback of this gadget.

For about $200, you will get LCD projector with 1280×768 pixels native resolution, 3200 Lumens brightness, and even 3D function. The picture quality is good; colors are saturated. The brightness is decent for using projector even in daytime, for example, presentation in office or college.

It has Android 6.0 operating system, so you can install any Android apps. The interfaces on the rear panel allow connecting PC, laptop, smartphone, gaming consoles, TV and other devices to projector.
