Unboxing

Let’s start with unboxing, and then talk about pros and cons of Cubot X19. The box shows the main features on the back, such as gyroscope, USB Type-C, 5.93-inch display, dual camera, etc.

Opening the box, you will find the standard accessories, such as SIM needle, 10W power adapter, USB cable, silicone case, and user manual.

The smartphone has a factory film out of the box, but you need to remove it, because it is not transparent.

Pros

Notch-Less Design

The first feature of Cubot X19 is notch-less design. To be honest, I am not a big fan of notches above the display, especially big one, like iPhone X. Fortunately, the big notch is not used in 2019, and it is replaced by more attractive waterdrop notch or hole-punch display.

Cubot X19 does not have waterdrop notch or hole-punch display, but it comes with black bar on the top. This is old design from 2017, but in my opinion, it is better than a big notch.

Also, I like the gradient back cover of Cubot X19. It looks much better than a regular black color.

3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C and dual SIM/microSD slot

You know that many phone manufacturers get rid of 3.5mm audio jack. In my opinion, it is not very important, because wireless Bluetooth earbuds are very cheap today, and everyone can afford them. However, there are still fans of wired headphones, so audio jack is a good bonus in Cubot X19.

The smartphone is equipped with USB Type-C port, so it supports 18W fast charging.

Full HD Display

The next reason to buy Cubot X19 is 5.93-inch Full HD display. I know that Full HD display is not surprising in 2019, but don’t forget that we review the budget smartphone. Many smartphones around $100 still have HD screens, so Cubot X19 looks great against the background of its competitors.

Good Performance (90K scores in AnTuTu)

Cubot X19 is powered by processor from 2017 – Helio P23. Although chipset was released almost two years ago, it is still good for budget smartphones. AnTuTu benchmark shows 92000 points, which is really good result.

New mobile device has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. You can use microSD card to expend internal storage.

As you know, MediaTek processors are not very good for games, but Cubot X19 runs the latest Android games without any problems. I have played PUBG Mobile on HD graphics. Although there are skipped frames, it is playable.

Good Daytime Photos

Our hero has dual rear camera – 16MP main sensor and 2MP secondary sensor. We will talk about secondary sensor on the back a little later, because it is fake. Now I want to talk about photos in daytime. Cubot X19 really surprised me with shots in good lighting conditions. The images are colorful, high detailed and bright. To be honest, I wouldn’t notice the difference between this smartphone and the more expensive $200 device.

Also, Cubot X19 takes good selfies on 8MP front camera.

Low Price

Finally, the last advantage of Cubot X19 is price. As I already wrote, it costs only $120. It will be difficult to find something similar for the price.

Cons

Now, let’s talk about cons of Cubot X19. The budget smartphone cannot be perfect, and it will always have drawbacks compared to more expensive devices. The main thing is that cons not critical for you, otherwise you will not be able to use the smartphone at your leisure.

Plastic body

Cubot X19 has a plastic body. I don’t think this is a big problem, but if you are used to more expensive materials such as metal or glass, then plastic will be felt. Anyway, most likely, you will use silicone protective case, so you shouldn’t care about plastic body.

Screen to body ratio

As I already said, Cubot X19 has a black bar at the top of the screen instead of notch. From one side, it is good, but from other – the screen to body ratio is very low. I’m not used to screen to body ratio below 80% in 2019, because most smartphones have 85% and more.

It means that Cubot X19 has larger dimensions than other smartphones with the same screen diagonal and any kind of notch.

Lack of LTE bands (no USA and Canada)

Cubot X19 is a Chinese smartphone, and it doesn’t support some American LTE bands. Most likely, it won’t work with USA and Canada carriers. If you are from North America, it is better to check available LTE bands, because you will have problems with phone calls and mobile internet.

Fake dual camera

Cubot X19 has a dual camera on the back, but the second sensor is fake. Why do I think so? First, AnTuTu benchmark doesn’t show the second sensor. The second reason is bokeh mode. When you select bokeh mode in camera app, you have a circle in the center, and all around it is blurred. You can change the circle size and blur level, but you have to do it manually. There is no auto portrait mode as on other more expensive smartphones.

In my opinion, the second sensor on the back is not used at all.

10W charger

It seems that Cubot X19 supports 18W fast charging, but there is only 10W charger in the package. You have to buy additional power adapter with fast charging support. I don’t understand, why not add a quick charger? Why should I buy it additionally?

Conclusion

As you can see, no matter how hard I try to find drawbacks of Cubot X19, they are much smaller, and they are not as significant, as advantages of this smartphone.

Cubot X19 has good Full HD display, decent performance for most Android games, and cameras for taking photos in good lighting conditions.

I forgot to say about battery life, but it is quite standard. The battery has a capacity of 4000mAh, and it provides about 6 hours of screen on time. It means that you will have to charge the smartphone every day.

In general, Cubot X19 is good budget smartphone for 2019.
