BMAX X14 First REVIEW: 14.1-inch Touch Screen, but NOT Convertible
BMAX is a newcomer on the market of laptops, but the Chinese manufacturer continue to release new devices every month. In early August 2019, the company released a compact 11.6-inch laptop called BMAX Y11. It has a touch screen, an aluminum body and a convertible design.
After almost a month, BMAX introduced another convertible laptop, but with a larger screen — 13.3-inches. The laptop is called BMAX Y13. By the way, we already wrote the first review of BMAX Y13.
After another month, the manufacturer introduced its new laptop — BMAX X14. It also has a metal body and a touch screen, but it is not convertible anymore. As you understand from the name, the screen has become larger, and now its diagonal is 14.1-inches.
The new BMAX X14 laptop is equipped with Intel 8th Gen Gemini Lake N4100 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD memory and Windows 10 OS.
Let’s do first review of the new BMAX X14 laptop. Should you buy it?

BMAX X14: Design
As the previous laptops, BMAX X14 has a metal case and a very compact size. Its dimensions are 32.3 × 21.7 × 1.5 cm.
Despite the metal case, the laptop weighs only 1.4 kg. As you can see, BMAX X14 is very convenient to carry in a backpack or bag to the college, office or café.
The image below shows the comparison of 14.1-inch BMAX X14 with a regular 13.3-inch laptop. BMAX new laptop is much smaller!
BMAX X14 comes only in silver color with black frames around the screen.
On the top panel we can see a small company logo — this is a mask. The eyes of the mask are highlighted in the dark. Many gaming notebooks, as well as Apple laptops, have a backlit logo.
On the right side of BMAX X14 there is USB 3.0 connector, MicroSD slot and 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The charging connector and USB Type-C port are located on the left side. Unfortunately, that’s all available interfaces. We would like more!
Opening the laptop, we can see a large 14.1-inch screen. This is IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The aspect ratio is 16:9. The screen occupies 83% of the front panel.
The display is very bright, and it also has good color reproduction, contrast and wide viewing angles.
By the way, the screen is touch-sensitive, which greatly simplifies its use. Now you do not have to use a mouse or touchpad to control the laptop.
The side and upper bezels around the display are quite thin — only 5 mm each.
The bezel under the display is wider because it has 2MP front camera and two microphones. That’s quite unusual location for web camera, but we do not think it is a problem.
Of course, BMAX Y14 has a keyboard and a touchpad. Moreover, the keyboard has a backlit.
The space to the right and left of the keyboard is only 3 mm. The manufacturer decided to use as little space as possible to make BMAX X14 as compact as possible.
Above the keyboard there are 4 speakers, LED indicators and square button to turn on the laptop.
We really like the design of BMAX X14. Thin bezels around the display, backlit keyboard and slim body make the new laptop very stylish and elegant.
BMAX X14: Specifications
Now let’s look at specifications of the new laptop. BMAX X14 is powered by Gemini Lake N4100 processor. This is the 8th generation Intel quad-core processor. Its clock frequency is from 1.1 GHz to 2.4 GHz.
BMAX laptop has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD memory. We think this is enough to store photos, videos, music and perform everyday or office tasks.
Moreover, the manufacturer say that you can play games or process photos or videos on BMAX X14. By the way, have you ever tried to process photos on a touch screen? It is very convenient!
As for GPU, BMAX X14 has Intel 9th Gen UHD Graphics 600.
The laptop runs on Windows 10 operating system with support for new functions.
There is a support for dual-band Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz for wireless Internet connection. The laptop also has Bluetooth 5.0 for wirelessly connecting Bluetooth speakers, wireless headphones and other devices.
BMAX X14 is equipped with 10000mAh built-in battery.
By the way, the manufacturer says that the new laptop boots up in just 8 seconds, thanks to the fast SSD memory. It is very interesting!
BMAX X14: Price and buy
You can already order BMAX X14 laptop for $389 in Banggood online store. In our opinion, this is a very low price for a compact notebook with an aluminum case, weight only 1.4 kg, a large 14.1-inch touch screen, Gemini Lake N4100 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of SSD memory.
If you need a laptop for office or travel, then BMAX X14 would be a very good option.
BMAX X14 vs BMAX Y13 vs BMAX Y11: Comparison
All BMAX laptops are powered by the same CPU and GPU: Intel Gemini Lake N4100 and UHD Graphics 600. All of them also have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD memory.
The main difference between BMAX X14, BMAX Y13 and BMAX Y11 is in display diagonal: 14.1-inches, 13.3-inches and 11.6-inches, respectively. The screen resolution is Full HD.
Another difference is that BMAX Y11 and BMAX Y13 have convertible design, but BMAX X14 doesn’t. The screen of the latest BMAX laptop doesn’t rotate at 360 degrees.
