Alfawise A80 First REVIEW: Good Projector Under $100 in 2019

In early April, Alfawise introduced a new LED projector called Alfawise A80. According to manufacturer, new projector goes one step ahead of its competitors. Let’s find out what features a new projector has and why it is better than its predecessors and competitors.

Alfawise A80 is a compact LED projector, which supports video playback in Full HD and native resolution of 1280 x 720. It has a brightness of 2800 lumens, stereo sound and Android operating system.

The main advantage of the projector is price. Alfawise A80 costs only $89.

Alfawise A80: Design

The new Alfawise projector looks very simple and stylish. Its design is almost the same as its predecessors. It is a rectangular box of matt black color. The top of projector is slightly curved.

The projector is made of metal, ABS plastic and glass. Its dimensions allow you to install the projector in a room of any size. Alfawise A80 dimensions are 19 x 16 x 7 cm and weight is only 920 kg.

On the top panel we see four triangles – they have a different relief. Most likely, the triangles play no role in performance, sound or cooling. This is just a design detail. Also, there is a square power button on the top.

On the front panel is a glass lens LED lamp. It is a pity that this model of projector does not have a special shutter to protect the lens from dust and scratches.

On the right we can see a small white Alfawise logo and a speaker grille below.

On the left side are two wheels for adjusting the focus and vertical image correction.

On the right side is a grid for cooling the projector.

Ports and connectors are located on the rear panel. The projector has seven ports, such as VGA, DC, AV, HDMI, two USB ports and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Available connectors allow you to connect various devices, including game consoles (PS2, PS3, XBOX), laptops, audio systems, etc.

The projector stands on four rubber feet. Alfawise A80 has a special retractable plastic leg to lift the front of the projector. Also, there is hole for tripod.

If to talk about package contents, it includes user manual, AV cable, power cable and remote control.

The remote control is very small and comfortable. It fits easily in your hand. There are not many control buttons, so you can easily understand the basic functions.

Alfawise A80: Functions

The projector is powered by MStar V56 processor and runs on Android operating system. In other words, you can use Alfawise A80 as Android TV box. The projector is very quiet – the noise level is no more than 32 dB.

The native resolution of new projector is 1280 x 720 pixels, but it can play video in Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Alfawise A80 offers a bright and clear image. Of course, the less light in the room, the more contrast picture you get.

Alfawise A80 uses 2800 lumen LED lamp with 2200:1 contrast ratio. These are very good specs for an entry level projector. Also, the manufacturer promises a very long lamp life – 30,000 hours. This is more than 10 years of work when using the projector for about 10 hours a day.

You can adjust the projection distance from 1.2 to 5.5 meters. Image size can range from 28 to 180-inches. As you can see, Alfawise A80 is perfect for both a small living room and a large conference hall. Image scale is 16:9.

According to manufacturer, you need to place the projector at a distance of 2.2 to 3 meters, and create a projection with a size of 60 to 100-inches to get the highest quality image.

Alfawise A80 allows you to adjust keystone distortion +/- 15 degrees. As we wrote earlier, the projector has a wheel on the right side to adjust keystone distortion.

Alfawise A80 is equipped with 5 watt stereo speakers. They provide high-quality surround sound while playing and watching movies. Even if the sound through the built-in speakers does not suit you, you can connect an external speaker or sound system using connectors on the rear panel.

The user interface of projector has tiles of different sizes. There are quick access applications on the main screen, such as settings, browser, music, video, applications, etc.

Alfawise A80 has some pre-installed apps. You can use the remote control to control projector, as well as keyboard and mouse.

Alfawise A80 is a good projector for home and office. Also, you can use it as Android TV Box. New Alfawise projector is equipped with powerful 2800 lumen lamp, stereo speakers and multiple interfaces for connecting devices.

You can buy Alfawise A80 for only $89. It is very good price for this projector.
