Oukitel WP6 First REVIEW and Comparison with Oukitel WP5
Oukitel has announced the release of its new smartphone from WP series. The mobile devices of WP series are designed for people who play active sports or go hiking because they have durable case and large batteries.
The new rugged smartphone is called Oukitel WP6, and it will be officially launched on March 20.
By the way, we have already written about smartphones from WP series before. Recently I have been writing an article with unboxing and full review of the previous generation smartphone – Oukitel WP5.
I really liked that smartphone. It has a shockproof and waterproof case, 5.5-inch display, good performance and large 8000mAh battery. But the most pleasant feature for me is the price – only $99.
As for the upcoming smartphone, Oukitel WP6 has 6.3-inch Full HD display, Mediatek Helio P70 processor, triple camera with 48MP main sensor and 10000 mAh battery with fast charging support.
The new Oukitel WP6 is really a very interesting smartphone. Let’s take a first look at the new mobile device and then compare it with the predecessor Oukitel WP5.

Oukitel WP6: Design
First, Oukitel WP6 is a rugged smartphone. It has IP68 protection standard. In other words, the smartphone is not afraid of falling from a height. It can also be submerged to a depth of 1.5 meters.
Moreover, the smartphone has passed many durability tests. On the official Oukitel website, you can watch videos showing various tests, including an attempt to drill a hole in Oukitel WP6 screen. In this duel, Oukitel WP6 came out the winner, while the drill was broken. Impressive!
The smartphone has 6.3-inch Full HD+ display on the front panel. It is covered by Gorilla Glass 5. By the way, the glass is 1.1 mm thick. By the way, thanks to protective glass, the smartphone screen has passed the durability test with the drill.
Screen resolution is 2340 x 1080 pixels. Aspect ratio is 19.5:9. As you can see, the smartphone has an elongated shape.
Above the screen you can see a small waterdrop notch for the front camera. The top bezel has a talking speaker and an LED sensor for new notifications.
By the way, the bezels around the screen are pretty thick, but I didn’t expect to see thin bezels in a rugged smartphone.
The fingerprint scanner is on the right side of smartphone. There are also power and volume buttons.
On the left edge, there is only dual slot for SIM card and MicroSD memory card.
At the bottom we can see a charging port and a 3.5mm audio jack. Having a 3.5mm jack in 2020 smartphone is already a rarity.
By the way, you can see that SIM slot and connectors are covered by special rubber plugs so that water doesn’t get inside the case.
Now let’s have a look at the back panel. In the center, there are 3 sensors of the main camera and a flashlight. At the bottom of the back panel is a speaker. We will talk more about camera specifications a little later.
Oukitel WP6 will be available in two colors: black and orange. In fact, there’s almost no difference between them, as only two small bright details will appear on the orange version. Otherwise, the body of the smartphone is made in black with silver metallic inserts on the rear panel.
Oukitel WP6: Specifications
The new Oukitel WP6 smartphone is powered by Mediatek Helio P70 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory. This is a pretty powerful 8-core processor with a clock speed of up to 2 GHz.
This kind of smartphone performance is enough for both everyday use and powerful games.
By the way, a Chinese company has paid much attention to optimizing the operating system, making it more responsive and fast. The smartphone runs on Android 9.0 Pie.
Oukitel WP6: Camera
One of the features of Oukitel WP6 is the triple main camera. On the rear panel, there is 48MP main sensor and two additional sensors for 5MP and 3MP.
As you may know, Chinese manufacturers often cheat and install camera sensors that are not used when taking photos. At this point, I can’t tell you if all the sensors of Oukitel WP6 camera are not fake. We won’t know until the smartphone is officially released.
The front camera has 16MP sensor, which is quite good when compared to other rugged smartphones.
Oukitel WP6: Battery
The main advantage of the new Oukitel smartphone is the large battery capacity of 10,000 mAh. One battery charge is enough for 25 hours of Internet use, 52 hours of talk time, 3 days of active use or 32 days in standby mode. Excellent result! I think it is perfect for long trips or hiking.
Oukitel WP6 also supports fast 18W charging. It allows you to fully charge the smartphone’s battery in just 3 hours, which is pretty fast given the high capacity of the battery.
By the way, the new smartphone Oukitel can be used as a power bank to recharge other devices, including smartphones. To do this, you need to use OTG cable that comes in the package with smartphone.
Oukitel WP6: Price and Buy
The price of Oukitel WP6 is not yet known, because the smartphone will officially go on sale only on March 20th. But you can already pre-order it for $240.

I would not advise you to hurry, because the smartphone is likely to be cheaper after the official start of sales.
By the way, you can try your luck till March 20th and get Oukitel WP6 for free. To do so, you need to take part in giveaway from Oukitel on the official website.
To celebrate the release of the new device, Chinese manufacturer is raffling off 10 smartphones Oukitel WP6. You need to leave a request and fulfill several conditions. The more entries, the better your chances of winning.
Now let’s quickly compare the specifications of the new Oukitel WP6 smartphone with the previous Oukitel WP5.
Comparison of Oukitel WP6 and Oukitel WP5
Oukitel smartphones have noticeable differences both in appearance and specifications. Let’s start with the design.
The new WP6 smartphone has a larger screen than WP5 – 6.3 inches vs. 5.5 inches, respectively. The resolution and screen-to-body ratio of Oukitel WP6 is also higher.
We can see a wide bezel at the top of the screen of Oukitel WP5, while the new WP6 has a small waterdrop notch. The fingerprint scanner has moved from the back panel to the right edge. In addition, Oukitel WP6 has 3.5mm audio jack.
Both smartphones have three sensors of the main camera and a flashlight on the back, but they are located differently.
I like the design of Oukitel WP6 more, but that’s a matter of taste.
As for performance, Oukitel WP6 has a more powerful Mediatek Helio P70 processor against the entry-level Helio A22 chipset in Oukitel WP5 smartphone.
Also, the new smartphone has more RAM and built-in memory. Oukitel WP5 has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory, while the new WP6 smartphone comes with 6 GB and 128 GB of memory.
Obviously, the performance of the new smartphone is much better.
Oukitel WP6 battery is also larger than the previous smartphone. The new mobile device has a battery capacity of 10,000 mAh, while WP5 has 8,000 mAh.
By the way, the full battery charge of Oukitel WP6 takes 1 hour less than Oukitel WP5, because the new smartphone supports 18W fast charging. Let me remind you that Oukitel WP5 has only 10W power adapter.
So far, the new Oukitel WP6 smartphone is the winner in all categories.
If you compare camera sensors, Oukitel WP6 is once again better in our comparison. The new smartphone has 48 megapixel main sensor, while Oukitel WP5 has only 13 MP sensor.
By the way, both smartphones have two additional sensors each, but as our full review of Oukitel WP5 shows, they are fake. As I said before, real or fake sensors on Oukitel WP6, we will know only after the sales start of the smartphone.
The front camera of WP5 has only 5 MP resolution, while WP6 has 16 MP selfie camera.
It’s too early to talk about the price, because we don’t know how much Oukitel WP6 will cost. But in any case, Oukitel WP5 is cheaper than Oukitel WP6. This is not surprising, given the much better specifications of the new smartphone.
Right now you can buy Oukitel WP5 for only $119.
