Oukitel WP5 Video Review
Oukitel WP5: Unboxing
Oukitel WP5 is a budget smartphone, so we didn’t expect something special from the box and package contents. The box is really simple, but there is a useful accessory inside.
Inside the box, you will find user manual, smartphone with factory film on the screen, 10W power supply, OTG cable, and USB Type-C cable.
Yes, OTG cable is useful accessory. You can use it to connect USB flash drive, computer keyboard or mouse, and any other peripheral devices.
Oukitel WP5: Design
Oukitel WP5 is rugged smartphone, so it has an appropriate design. As you know, rugged phones are quite bulky, because their cases are covered by rubber to avoid any damage.
Oukitel new smartphone also has rubber back panel and side faces. USB port and microSD slot have rubber plugs to avoid water come inside the case. You should close the plugs before immersing the smartphone into water.
On the back of Oukitel WP5, you can find triple camera, flashlight and fingerprint reader. There is also company logo, IP68 waterproof logo and small speaker.
The left and right side faces are made of metal. They are painted in red color. We like the combination of black and red colors.
On the left side, there is SIM + microSD slot and the button for quick access to some functions, such as torch, SOS, etc.
The volume rocker and power button are on the right side.
At the bottom, there is only USB Type-C port and microphone. As I already said, the speaker is located on the back panel.
Oukitel WP5 does not have 3.5 mm audio jack. It is not a big problem for me, because I have been using wireless earbuds for a long time. What do you think about the lack of 3.5 mm audio jack?
If you look at Oukitel smartphone from the front, you can remember the past – about 2 years ago. This is how smartphones looked like 2 years ago and earlier. There are thick bezels on the top and bottom.
Oukitel WP5 does not have any kind of notches, just a thick bezel with earpiece, front camera and LED notification light.
You should understand that Oukitel WP5 is not for everyone. It is big, heavy and fat. It hardly fits in a pocket of jeans, and it is very uncomfortable to carry there.
This smartphone is for those who work in harsh conditions, such as on construction sites. If you often drop your smartphone and break the screen and other parts, you should think about buying a rugged phone. Oukitel WP5 does not afraid of drops, hits, low and high temperature, and even water.

Oukitel WP5: Display
The display of Oukitel WP5 has 5.5-inch diagonal and HD resolution, 720 x 1440 pixels. Of course, the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It will be hard to smash or scratch the display.
Although the screen resolution is only HD, we did not find any problems with it. This is a bright, contrast and sharp display.
Oukitel WP5: Software
We will not dwell on the software, because everything is standard here. Oukitel WP5 runs on Android 9.0 Pie. There are Google Apps, such as YouTube, Play Store, Maps and others, as well as Multilanguage support.
Oukitel WP5 is a rugged smartphone, so it has OutdoorTool app with gradienter, noise test, compass, magnifier, hangpainter and plumb.
The next useful function is Smart Key. As we already said, the smartphone has a button with quick access to some functions, such as SOS, torch, etc. You can choose the function in the settings menu. After you choose the function, just press long on the button on the left side face.
Oukitel WP5: Hardware
Do you remember that Oukitel WP5 is budget smartphone? I will remind you of that throughout this article. You should keep the price in mind, so you do not have to compare Oukitel WP5 with other smartphones, for example, Cubot X20 Pro.
The hero of our today’s review has Helio A22 or MediaTek MT6761 processor. The same processor is used in Redmi 6A, Elephone A6 Mini, Oukitel C15 Pro, Huawei Y6 Pro and other budget phones.
Oukitel WP5 also has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The smartphone supports microSD memory cards.
Oukitel WP5: Performance
If the specifications do not tell you anything, then let’s move on to benchmark tests, and then play a few games.
Benchmarks
Below you can see screenshots of the results of the popular benchmarks, such as AnTuTu.
75,000 points in AnTuTu is a good result for a $100 smartphone. Do not forget that the main feature of Oukitel WP5 is not the performance, but the rugged case and battery. We will talk about the battery a little later.
Oukitel WP5: Games
We have played some games on Oukitel WP5. We have tried to install PUBG Mobile, but there was an error. Therefore, we have played PUBG Mobile Lite.
You can also play Asphalt 8 and Call of Duty Mobile on Oukitel WP5. These games run very well.
Oukitel WP5: Camera
As we already said, and you have probably noticed, Oukitel WP5 has triple camera on the back. That sounds incredible for $100 smartphone. However, the second and third sensors on the rear panel are fake.
The manufacturer says that Oukitel WP5 has triple rear camera: 13-megapixel main sensor, 5-megapixel second sensor and 2-megapixel third sensor. However, if we look at any hardware app, for example, AIDA64 or AnTuTu, we will find only 13MP sensor. Where are the other two sensors? They are just not used for taking images.
The front camera is 5MP, and it is real.
Oukitel WP5: Sample photos
We took some photos on Oukitel WP5 in different light conditions: day and night.
Although the triple camera is a fake, and only one sensor is actually used for taking pictures, the photos quality is quite good, especially during the day.
By the way, the maximum photo resolution is 13MP – 4096 x 3072 pixels.
Oukitel WP5: Sample videos
Talking about video shooting, the maximum video resolution on Oukitel WP5 is Full HD – 1920 x 1080 pixels. There is electronic image stabilization option in camera settings menu, but we cannot say that the footage is very smooth.
Oukitel WP5: Battery
Oukitel WP5 comes with a large 8000mAh battery. It is a very big battery, and now we understand why the smartphone is so fat.
According to manufacturer, the smartphone ran for 615 hours in standby time, 42 hours of phone calls, 43 hours of music playback and 12 hours of watching videos.
The smartphone has very good battery life.
However, the power adapter in the package is only 10W. The charging takes a lot of time – about 4 hours. Oukitel WP5 has USB Type-C port, but it seems it does not support fast charging. That’s very bad.
Oukitel WP5: Connectivity
The new smartphone from Oukitel has dual SIM 4G support. Oukitel WP5 is a Chinese smartphone, but it supports global bands, so you can use it worldwide.
GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are available.
Oukitel WP5: Conclusion
Finally, we are ready to conclude about Oukitel WP5. The smartphone has fully met our expectations. We know its main advantages as well as disadvantages. Let’s start with the flaws.
As we already said, Oukitel WP5 is not for everyone. The smartphone is big and fat. It is very uncomfortable to carry in the jeans pocket. All because it is a rugged smartphone. All rugged phones have bulky design, because they are protected from damage.
You can throw, hit, dive and nothing happens to Oukitel WP5. It is almost immortal.
The second disappointment for me is fake rear camera. Yes, we did not expect real triple camera from a $100 smartphone, but even the second sensor is not used. We do not understand why to add three sensor, but only one of them is used for taking photos? It is very strange.
The last drawback for me is slow charging. Oukitel WP5 supports only 10W charging and it takes very long time to fully charge the battery.
As for the benefits, Oukitel WP5 is rugged smartphone. We like rugged phones, because it is very hard to break. You can also take good photos under the water.
Oukitel WP5 also has good performance. You can play heavy games, such as PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile and Asphalt 8.
The battery is very large, so the phone lasts for two and even more days on a single charge.
Finally, the price of only $99 is very attractive. If you want a durable smartphone with large battery and decent performance, then Oukitel WP5 is for you.
