Magicsee N5 Plus First REVIEW: TV Box with Removable Wi-Fi Antenna

A couple of months ago we wrote about TV Box called Magicsee N5 NOVA. If you don’t remember, TV box has a very good performance, Rockchip RK3318 processor, Android 9.0 operating system and voice control. Yesterday Magicsee introduced its new TV box – Magicsee N5 Plus.

The main feature of Magicsee N5 Plus is removable Wi-Fi antenna. TV box also has a slot for hard disk or SSD up to 4 TB, a powerful processor Amlogic S905X3, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, as well as support for multi-channel video decoder of 8K resolution.

As usual, let’s start the first review of Magicsee N5 Plus with design, and then talk about specifications, features and where to buy cheaper.

Magicsee N5 Plus: Design

Magicsee N5 Plus is easy to distinguish from other TV boxes on the market because of antenna on the right side. It is very noticeable. Have you ever seen Android TV box with an antenna? We haven’t.

If you don’t need an antenna, then you can take it off. The TV Box is also equipped with built-in antennas.

If you remove the antenna, Magicsee N5 Plus will be like most other TV boxes in 2019.

The device is made in square form of ABS plastic. The TV box comes only in black with a red logo on the top panel.

It is a very compact device. Its dimensions are 12.5 x 12.5 x 4.5 cm. The weight is only 185 grams.

As we wrote earlier, there is only the red Magicsee logo on the top of TV box.

On the front panel there is a small LED monochrome display. It displays time, Wi-Fi connection, and Play/Stop icons. The numbers are not too bright, so they do not cut the eyes in a dark room.

The side panels are almost completely occupied by the cooling grilles. There are three connectors on the left side: USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and TF memory card slot.

The other interfaces are on the back panel. Here we can see LAN, SPDIF, AV, HD and DC. Also there is ANT connector for connecting Wi-Fi antenna.

Above the ports there is a small switch. It opens the top cover. Here you can install a hard disk up to 4 TB.

Magicsee N5 Plus: Specifications

One of the advantages of Magicsee N5 Plus is Amlogic S905X3 processor. It is a quad-core processor with a clock speed of up to 1.9 GHz.

The processor was introduced in 2019, and it has a very good performance. Even though the performance has been improved by 20%, power consumption has been reduced.

As for graphics processor, the new TV Box has Mali-G31 MP2. It is able to play video at 8K resolution at 24 frames per second, 4K and 2K at 60 frames per second, as well as 1080P video at 60 frames per second.

The TV Box also has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory for storing files.

Thanks to a good processor, Magicsee N5 Plus dissipates heat perfectly and does not overheat during operation.

TV box has a built-in screen recording function. If you don’t have time to watch a football match or talk show, then set the timer on the screen recording and then watch the video when you want or have time.

If 64 GB isn’t enough for you, then you can install a hard drive up to 4 TB. We are sure this is more than enough memory.

Magicsee N5 Plus runs on Android 9.0. We think it’s the best OS for watching videos, movies and games.

Magicsee N5 Plus supports 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and Bluetooth 4.1 Wi-Fi Dual Band wireless bands.

Android TV box has both a built-in and a removable Wi-Fi antenna. If necessary, you can install the antenna on the back of TV Box for better Wi-Fi signal.

You can buy Magicsee N5 Plus for $79. It’s a good price for Android TV Box with a powerful energy-efficient processor, a slot for hard drive, many interfaces and removable antenna for better Wi-Fi signal.
