BMAX Y13 First REVIEW: A Premium Laptop For Just $380!

In early August, BMAX introduced the compact 11.6-inch laptop called BMAX Y11. It has a metal body, convertible design and touch screen display.

Less than a month later, the Chinese manufacturer released another convertible laptop – BMAX Y13. It also has a metal body, compact size and lightweight, but a larger screen size of 13.3-inches, a backlit keyboard and a higher capacity battery. This is a perfect laptop for on-the-go use.

Today we will make the first review of BMAX Y13 and talk about all the features of laptop.

By the way, if you haven’t heard of BMAX brand, don’t worry. Judging by the accounts in social media, the company was established only in the summer of 2019.

BMAX Y13: Design

As we wrote above, BMAX Y13 body is made of aluminium. The laptop comes only in gray matte color. Despite the metal case, the weight is small – only 1.25 kg.

The size of the laptop is also compact – 30.75 x 20.80 x 1.47 cm. This makes BMAX Y13 very convenient to carry and use both at home and at work, in cafes or even in public transport.

One of the main advantages of BMAX Y13 is its convertible design. The notebook rotates 360 degrees. The screen can be fully rotated to the back of the case, or used in any position.

On the lid there is a fairly large BMAX logo.

When you open the laptop, you will see 13.3-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. This is IPS Touch Panel. It recognizes up to 10 touches at a time. The aspect ratio is standard – 16:9.

Thanks to the touch screen and convertible design, BMAX Y13 can be used not only as a laptop, but also as a tablet.

The bezels around the display are black. The side bezels are very thin, 5 mm each, while the top and bottom bezels are slightly wider. The screen occupies 81.7% of the front panel.

The top bezel has 1MP front camera. This is enough for video calls via Skype or other applications.

Unlike BMAX Y11, the new BMAX Y13 laptop has a backlit keyboard. This is a very useful feature, especially for those who work behind the laptop at night.

By the way, the power button is always highlighted in red.

The speaker is above the keyboard. This is the best location, as you can hear the sound well in any position of the laptop.

Now let’s look at the sides faces. On the left side is a charging connector and USB Type-C port.

On the right side there are three more connectors – 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port and MicroSD card slot.

Next to the ports there is a physical button to turn on the laptop. It’s placed on the right side, not on the keyboard, so you can turn on the device even in tablet mode.

BMAX Y13: Specifications

BMAX Y13 is powered by 14nm Intel Gemini Lake N4100 processor with four cores. They have clock frequency from 1.1 GHz to 2.4 GHz. This processor is used in mid-range laptops. Its performance is sufficient for everyday and office tasks.

Intel UHD Graphics 600 processor is responsible for graphics.

As for memory, the new BMAX Y13 laptop is equipped with 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 256GB of internal SSD memory. These are just great specifications for a budget laptop. As the manufacturer says, the laptop turns on in just 8 seconds.

Like most laptops, BMAX Y13 runs on Windows 10. It supports Bluetooth 5.0 wireless networks and dual band Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz.
