The First OnePlus TV: What Do We Know About It?

In one month, OnePlus will present its new devices. September 26th we are waiting for not only two new smartphones OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro, but also the first TV from the Chinese brand – OnePlus TV.

At the moment, there is no information about the design or size of new TV, but we know the main technical specifications of OnePlus TV.

OnePlus TV: Specifications

In one of his interviews, Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, revealed some details about the upcoming TV. We think this information can be safely believed.

CEO said that the main task in the development of new OnePlus TV was to ensure high image and sound quality. The company interviewed users, and most of them said that “image quality is the most important thing in TV.”

Despite its main mission, the company used QLED panel, instead of OLED. This choice was made because OLED panel is much more expensive. Pete Lau says the following: “The difference in price is not equal to the difference in image quality”.

The display size will be 55-inches. OnePlus TV will have a native Full HD resolution, but support 4K playback, 3840 × 2160 pixels.

TV will be powered by MediaTek MT5670 processor. It is equipped with 4 cores with a clock frequency of 1.5 GHz. The graphics processor is ARM Mali G51 graphics processor. Also, the TV will have 3GB of RAM.

As for operating system, the new OnePlus TV will run on Android TV. This is a special version of Android with software optimization specifically for TVs.

In other words, the user interface and controls have been changed for TVs, but you can install any Android apps that are available on your smartphone or tablet.

The main screen of TV will display not only installed applications, like other Smart TVs, but also recommended content. Content will be offered taking into account the interests and requests of user.

OnePlus TV will not only be controlled with remote control. The new TV also syncs with smartphone. Using a mobile device, you can enter text on the TV. There is no longer any need to connect a keyboard or use the buttons and arrows on the remote control.

OnePlus TV: Release Date and Price

OnePlus TV will be officially unveiled on September 26, 2019. First, the TV will be released in India, and from October it will be available in Europe, the USA and China.

The exact price of OnePlus TV is still unknown. Nevertheless, as we already found out, the Chinese manufacturer saves on components, for example, QLED panel, instead of OLED. Most likely, it will be a budget TV to compete with Xiaomi TVs. As you may know, Xiaomi TVs are very popular in India and China.
