Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 First REVIEW: Robot Floor Cleaner 2019!
We have written about the smart home appliances from Xiaomi, which are designed to simplify and speed up the process of house cleaning. The Chinese company does not stop there, and it recently introduced a new cleaner called Xiaomi BOBOT Min580.
Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 is a smart robot floor cleaner. It is designed for both dry and wet cleaning. BOBOT Min580 is equipped with GPS navigation and 180 minutes of battery life. Also, it is easy to control. We have not seen anything like this before!
Let’s make the first review of Xiaomi BOBOT Min580, and find out how it differs from robot vacuum cleaner.
Xiaomi BOBOT Min580: Design
The robot has a rectangle shape with rounded edges. The body is made of ABS plastic of glossy black color. Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 is smaller than most robot vacuum cleaners. Its dimensions are 24.5 x 22 x 8 cm, and weight – 1.35 kg.
Due to its compact size, BOBOT Min580 easily cleans under bed, sofa or table, and washes floors in hard to reach places. The rounded edges allow the robot to clean the corners and not to scratch furniture or walls when colliding with them.
On the top panel of the robot, there are three control buttons. The central button turns it on and off, while the side buttons start the cleaning modes: wet and dry. If you double-click on one of the buttons during cleaning, this will pause the cleaning processor.
Light indicators are located below the buttons.
Navigation sensors are installed in the central part of the top panel. They are highlighted by a white circle.
Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 has a bumper with a rubber lining around the perimeter on the front side. Using the bumper, the robot cleaner gently faces obstacles and changes direction.
On the bottom panel there are two large wheels, a connector for charging and two small legs. These legs are equipped with special sensors that prevent Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 from falling from a height, for example, steps.
The special pads are fastened by magnets to the lower part of vacuum cleaner. One of the pads is designed for dry cleaning, while another – for wet cleaning. There is a small water tank on the wet pad.

Now let’s look at package contents. Together with Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 robot floor cleaner you will get a pair of plastic pads for different cleaning modes, a set of three cleaning fabrics — two for wet and one for dry cleaning, charging cable with power adapter and user manual in English and Chinese.
Also, there is a small round GPS navigator. It helps the robot to build a room map and clean the house more efficiently.
GPS navigator looks like a washer. It has four rubber feet, power button and charging port at the bottom.
On the front panel there is only round GPS button. Holding it for a couple of seconds, Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 robot floor cleaner synchronizes with GPS navigator.
Xiaomi BOBOT Min580: Specifications
The new robot floor cleaner from Xiaomi is equipped with Polaris GPS navigation. With its help, BOBOT Min580 memorizes objects around itself, the location of furniture and creates the best route for cleaning.
The square shape and an extended front bumper allows the robot to clean under the batteries, sofas and corners, leaving no dead zones.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 does not clean on the carpet, neither during dry nor wet cleaning. It is intended for cleaning only on flat surfaces: tile, parquet, tile, etc.
Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 is equipped with 2000mAh battery. One charge is enough for 2.5 hours of wet cleaning or 4 hours of dry cleaning. During dry cleaning, the robot is able to clean up to 120 square meters, and during wet cleaning – about 70 square meters.
If during cleaning the robot is discharged, it remembers the place where it stopped, and continues cleaning after recharging. The full charging time is about 4 hours.
BOBOT Min580 is very quiet, so during cleaning it does not prevent residents from going about their business or even sleeping.
Xiaomi BOBOT Min580: Control
Using Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 is very simple. First, you need to fasten the fabric on plastic pad.
The fabric is attached to the pad for wet cleaning with special velcro on the sides. Before cleaning, fill the tank with water. The fabric can also be pre-moistened. Water is fed to the fabric through the hole in the center of the pad.
For dry cleaning you need to use another pad. The fabric is attached to it with special holes.
Then put Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 on the floor and press one of the control buttons, depending on the cleaning mode you need.
The manufacturer recommends to start dry cleaning first and only after that – wet cleaning. Thus, Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 will collect small debris, wool or hair. During dry cleaning, the robot moves around the room in zigzag movements.
Before starting wet cleaning, you should place GPS navigator and synchronize it with the robot floor cleaner. Navigator helps Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 to better navigate the room, and clean the room more efficiently and quickly.
It is better to place GPS navigator in the center of the cleaned room. Of course, you can use Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 without GPS navigator, but it will clean worse, for example, it can pass several times in places where it has already been cleaned.
Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 has a special mode, during which the robot imitates the movement of a mop, moves back and forth.
Thanks to the sensors at the bottom, BOBOT Min580 does not fall off stairs or other surfaces. It stops at the edge and moves back.
When the cleaning is complete, BOBOT Min580 returns to the starting point.
As for the cleaning quality, Xiaomi BOBOT Min580 copes better with wet cleaning than regular robot vacuum cleaners. Don’t forget that wet cleaning is the main function of BOBOT Min580.
