Oukitel WP2 and WP5000 REVIEW: Rugged Smartphones with IP68 and NFC
Oukitel is one of the few Chinese manufacturer that released really interesting rugged smartphones. Today we want to talk about two smartphones with IP68, dual camera and NFC. Oukitel WP2 and Oukitel WP5000 are good mid-range phones, which are ready to compete with products of A-class brands.
The manufacturer already proved water protection of Oukitel WP2 and Oukitel WP5000. Also the smartphones were moved by car, hit with a hammer, thrown from a 4.5-meter bridge, and so on. In general, they are really waterproof, shockproof and dustproof.

Oukitel WP2 and Oukitel WP5000: Specifications
These are the first rugged smartphones from Oukitel, released in 2018. This is strange enough, because Oukitel usually releases 2-3 new productsa quarter. This year, the Chinese is very modest. Probably, it is better, because the specifications and features of new devices are impressive.

Oukitel WP2 and Oukitel WP5000: Design
At first glance, Oukitel WP5000 and Oukitel WP2 are different smartphones. However, this is not quite true. They are in the same price category, so they simply represent the two sides of the same coin. Oukitel WP5000 is a younger version, while Oukitel WP2 is more powerful. Everything is expressed in technical specifications.
Oukitel WP2 is a more aggressive smartphone. The bolts on its body are not a hoax. They really are. Therefore, if you want to remove the back cover of Oukitel WP2, you have to take a special mini-screwdriver, which comes in the package. The body is made of polystyrene ebonite. It is designed to provide not only resistance to water, but also protection against drops from a height or other damage.
Oukitel WP5000 is more classic smartphone. The bolts on the case of this smartphone are more decorative than protective. This device is almost entirely made of plastic, and you can meet steel only at the ends of the smartphone. Oukitel WP5000 is 30 grams lighter and 4 mm thinner. It is really felt.
Both smartphones are protected from dust and moisture according to IP68 standard. It means that you can use these smartphones under water at a depth of 1 meter. But there is one rule: before you immerse the device in water, you should make sure that USB port at the bottom is covered with a rubber stopper.
Oukitel WP2 and Oukitel WP5000: Display
Oukitel WP2 has a big screen: 6-inch, IPS panel, 1080×2160 pixels, 402 ppi, 2.5D glass. It has Gorilla Glass 2 glass, 18:9 aspect ratio and 60% of screen to body ratio. It is much better than WP5000, just because it has higher screen resolution, as well as Corning Gorilla Glass.
Oukitel WP5000 has 5.7 inch screen with HD+ resolution, 1440 x 720 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is bright enough, even under direct sunlight. It has good viewing angles and contrast.
Oukitel WP2 and Oukitel WP5000: Performance
Technically, both smartphones are good, although they don’t have high scores in benchmarks. Moreover, the smartphones have absolutely different hardware.
Oukitel WP2 is powered by MediaTek MT6750T processor. It is a fairly fast processor. Its eight cores Cortex-A53 are capable of overclocking to 1.5 GHz. The processor is built on 28-nm technical process. Also there is ARM Mali T-860 MP2 graphics.
If we talk about memory, everything is very good: 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. This is enough for storing music, video and games. If you need more memory, then there is a microSD slot. In AnTuTu benchmark Oukitel WP2 scores about 56000 points.
As for Oukitel WP5000, it has a good processor MediaTek Helio P25. The maximum clock speed of eight cores Cortex A53 is 2.5GHz. The smartphone provides pretty good performance, thanks to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in memory. It is even more powerful than Oukitel WP2, and it scores about 80000 points in AnTuTu.
The battery capacity Oukitel WP2 is 10000 mAh, while Oukitwl WP5000 has only 5200mAh.
Oukitel WP2 and Oukitel WP5000: Camera
Oukitel WP2 is equipped with dual rear camera: 16-megapixel main sensor and 5-megapixel additional sensor for bokeh effect. Also there is 8MP front camera.
Oukitel WP5000 has the same dual rear camera as Oukitel WP2. On the front panel there is 8-megapixel camera. New smartphone completely copies Oukitel WP5000. You can take good photos in daytime, but you should no expect high quality in low lighting conditions.
Oukitel WP2 and Oukitel WP5000: Features
Oukitel WP5000 and Oukitel WP2 have very interesting feature – NFC. The rugged smartphones generally rarely keep up with modern technology, but these two devices do. So you can safely pay for your purchases with Oukitel WP5000 and Oukitel WP2.
Important point: both smartphones do not have 3.5 mm audio jack, so to listen to music you need to use an adapter from USB Type-C to a 3.5 mm audio jack. Also, you can buy Bluetooth headphones.
Oukitel WP2 and Oukitel WP5000: Price
The smartphone Oukitel WP2 has gone on sale some days ago on GearBest online store. Its price starts from $220. This is an excellent rugged smartphone with a huge battery, large screen and NFC. Oukitel WP5000 costs more, and you will need to pay $320.
