Honor Band 4 has not gone on sale yet. It will start shipping on September 11. The manufacturer says that official price will be $29.
On Aliexpress you can pre-order Honor Band 4 for about $35. However, it will be shipped only in a couple of weeks, and you will get smart band not earlier than in a month.
Anyway, Honor Band 4 costs only $5 more than Xiaomi Mi Band 3, which is not so much.
Honor Band 4 or Xiaomi Mi Band 3: Design
Both fitness bracelets have a sporty design and a rectangular shape. They have silicone straps. To be honest, I prefer the classic clasp of Honor Band 4, because it will not be unbuttoned during physical activities.
The advantage of Xiaomi Mi Band 3 is a huge choice of additional straps.
In any Chinese online store you can buy a strap of any color, and from various materials: silicone, leather or even metal.
Most likely, Honor Band 4 will also have additional straps, but the choice will not be so great.
Honor Band 4 or Xiaomi Mi Band 3: Display
Xiaomi Mi Band 3 looks very similar to Mi Band 2. It received a little larger dislay, and now it is touchscreen. It is monochrome 0.78-inch OLED-screen with resolution of 128×80 pixels.
The new fitness bracelet from Honor is equipped with 0.95-inch AMOLED display with 2.5D glass on top. It is also touchscreen, and it is color. This is a big advantage, because the icons and information on it look more attractive and interesting for the eyes.
Thaks to the larger size, the display of Honor Band 4 is more informative. It displays up to 45 Chinese characters, while Mi Band 3 screen has only 23 characters. From other side, the screen has a drawback – it consumes a lot of battery.
Honor Band 4 or Xiaomi Mi Band 3: Functions
According to manufacturer, Honor Band 4 will be able to monitor heart rate more accurately than Mi Band 3. it uses the algorithm of artificial intelligence, so the heart rate is measured with accuracy of 94.3%. The new Honor bracelet can automatically recognize the swimming, while Mi Band 3 cannot do this.
As for the rest, both smart bands have the same functions, such as count steps, burned calories and distance, sleep monitoring, notification of calls and messages, reminders, weather information, etc.
Honor Band 4 or Xiaomi Mi Band 3: NFC and water protection
Honor Band 4 has built-in NFC, so the users in different countries can use it for contactless payments. Xiaomi also announced NFC version of Mi Band 3, but it is not yet on sale. However, many sources say that NFC on Mi Band 3 will only work in China.
Both devices have water protection, according to IP68 and 5ATM standards. They can withstand immersion up to 5 meters.
Honor Band 4 o Xiaomi Mi Band 3: Battery
As for battery life, Xiaomi Mi Band 3 has 110mAh battery. The battery life is about 20 days in standby mode, or 10 days with heart rate monitor.
Honor Band 4 is powered by 100mAh battery. The single charge provides up to 14 days in standby, and up to 6 days with heart rate monitor. As we already said, Band 4 has less battery life because of color screen.

There are no significant differences between Honor Band 4 and Xiaomi Mi Band 3. We think that the choice between them depends on personal preferences. Do you want color screen? Then choose Honor Band 4. If you want longer battery life, then Xiaomi Mi Band 3 will be better option. However, Honor Band 4 has NFC, and it will work worldwide, while Mi Band 3 doesn’t.
