BlackBerry Aurora Review: WE DO NOT EXPECT THIS!

BB Merah Putih, which received the rights to manufacture BlackBerry smartphones in Indonesia, introduced its first smartphone BlackBerry Aurora.

It’s worth saying that the smartphone is designed, assembled and promoted on the territory of Indonesia, but nothing prevents the manufacturer from selling it in other countries. But, nevertheless, only the name remains from the original brand. So BlackBerry Aurora is not some unrealistically cool business smartphone BlackBerry.

By the way, it is the first BlackBerry smartphone with support for two SIM-cards. We hear that Blackberry plans to produce Android smartphone, but we don’t expect BlackBerry Aurora. Let’s see what is it.

BlackBerry Aurora: Specifications

Inside the smartphone is Snapdragon 425 processor from Qualcomm. The processor is quite good, but it is an entry-level model. Accordingly, the power of the processor will not be high enough. In contrast, smartphone receives 4 GB of RAM, which it will not be able to use under standard usage scenarios.

We think that it would be enough 2 GB, or maybe 3 GB, but four gigabytes is too much. You pay for these gigabytes, although you will not use them. The internal memory is 32 GB. It is quite an acceptable option, but if you want more, you can use a memory card.

BlackBerry Aurora: Design

I will say straight – BlackBerry Aurora looks cheap. Front panel we have a glossy, bottom-heavy company logo. There are no keys for touch control; they are moved to the display. The screen doesn’t have 2.5D effect, so the edges are similar to iPhone 5. The back side is plastic with a rough texture, which seems to increase grip on the hand. There is also a camera, another company logo and a hefty bar at the bottom. There are several color options, but they do not all look like a BlackBerry.

BlackBerry Aurora: Features

We begin with display that is simply terrible. BlackBerry Aurora has a diagonal of 5.5 inches and resolution of 1280×720 pixels. We saw a lot of similar Chinese smartphones with a price tag of $60. In addition, BlackBerry Aurora uses 13 megapixels main camera with a dual flash and 8 megapixels front camera. Should I tell you about quality of photos? I think no.

The only good part is Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and 3000 mAh battery.

Conclusion

Now about the funniest – the price BlackBerry Aurora is $260. For a similar amount, you can get Nokia 6 (even cheaper, but it has a Full HD display and a stylish design with a bunch of features). Also you can buy any version from Meizu or Xiaomi for the same money. But they will be more productive and interesting. Not to mention the fact that $300 you can order a good Samsung device.

Why you need to buy BlackBerry Aurora? For a brand that was created and assembled in Indonesia with an HD display and plastic body? I do not think it’s worth your money.
