Microsoft reduces the production of low-cost smartphones
Sources among vendors, Microsoft said that the company started to reduce orders for the production of components for smartphones primary and secondary level because of their weak prospects for the second half of 2015.
At the same time, they expect growth in orders for new components of Microsoft products on Windows 10 Mobile, which will be announced at a special event of the company from Redmond, which will be held October 6 this year. And, as it is believed this day the American manufacturer will show two new flagship smartphone family Lumia, the new Surface tablet, and the second generation smart bracelet Microsoft Band.
In mid-summer, Microsoft said of the desire to reduce and focus range on three areas: smartphones for corporate users, budgetary decisions and flagship product “for fans of Windows”. And for each of these areas Microsoft expects to release no more than 1-2 smartphones in the year.
Microsoft’s decision to reduce the orders affect suppliers such as Compal, Truly Optoelectronics and Foxconn Electronics. But sources say about Microsoft’s plans for the production of two new hybrid tablet Surface, one of which will receive a 12-inch display, while the second will be equipped with a screen diagonal of 13 to 14 inches, which will provide suppliers with new orders.
