Review Honor 8 Pro: international version of Honor V9 with dual rear camera

Today, the official presentation of smartphone Honor 8 Pro. Instead of its boring description, we decided to prepare a first look at the model, and in a couple of weeks we will make a full review.

Honor 8 Pro: Design

I do not know if you remember it or not, but Honor 8 has definitely the coolest color. It was clear in the company, so for Honor 8 Pro it was left among the available ones. We were lucky, on the test was a version of the smartphone of this color. I went with the device for a couple of days, but enjoyed it with pleasure. Aluminum pleasantly cold hands, the body beautifully poured into the light, it’s nice that the front part, too, made blue. The antenna inserts and the camera do not bulge, in general, the sensations from the assembly are purely positive.

The bottom buttons are onscreen, while in the settings you can change their location, there is also a button for their quick hide. A good, thought-out solution.

Honor 8 Pro: Dimensions

Despite the large diagonal, Honor 8 Pro feels excellent in its hand, it is moderately thin (7 mm), but its light can not be called, the weight of the model is 184 grams. However, it is evenly distributed, so I did not feel any discomfort during use.

Honor 8 Pro: Screen

Frankly, the first time I assumed that the smartphone uses the AMOLED-matrix, it is too juicy and vivid colors in it, however, as it turned out, I was wrong.

The screen has a very high contrast, the picture is bright, colorful, I would even say that it can compete with AMOLED-displays. QHD-resolution perfectly fits the screen diagonal, pixelation is invisible. In general, it’s a pleasure to use the display in Honor 8 Pro.

The settings has a cool function – scaling. In fact, it changes the DPI in the system, so if the standard interface is too large for you or, on the contrary, small, it’s easy to fix. By the way, we recently had a great article about scaling, I recommend reading.

Honor 8 Pro: Operating system

The smartphone runs on Android 7.0 along with the proprietary EMUI 5.1 shell. Huawei has one of the most functional shells, here you can change the grid, and the type of desktops you choose (all on the screen or from the application menu), and the behavior of applications to customize, and much more. By the way, the problem with notifications seems to have finally been solved.

Honor 8 Pro: Performance

The model uses its own chipset Kirin 960, its performance is close to Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, for more details about the speed of work, let’s talk in full review. At first impressions, the device is fast, very fast.

Honor 8 Pro: Battery life

In my mode of use (mail, twitter, web surfing, enabled synchronization, mobile Internet, social networks and instant messengers), the device issues about six hours of the screen on. These are very good indicators, usually in similar scenarios it is difficult to achieve more than four hours of screen operation.

The smartphone supports fast charging, unfortunately, the figures for the speed of the charge will not be, since we did not have the appropriate adapter in the kit.

Honor 8 Pro: Camera

Huawei is gradually moving its entire lineup to dual cameras, and this, in my opinion, is correct. If the company has a key advantage, why not use it? Below – a few examples of pictures, in more detail about the camera, we will tell in a full review.

Honor 8 Pro: Wireless interfaces

And although we are talking about the model of the middle segment, Honor 8 Pro has everything at all! And full support for LTE-bands, and NFC-module, and even an infrared port with the appropriate application for management of technology.

Conclusion

For a couple of days of use I have only positive impressions from Honor 8 Pro: cool design, excellent display, long time of operation, good camera, functional shell, maximum support for wireless interfaces. Let’s see how much good price it will put in Huawei.

And what do you say about new smartphone, dear readers?
